VPCCL AGM 2008

Friday 7th March 2008

The 2008 Victoria Park Community Cricket League AGM was held last night at the Royal Inn on the Park. The main highlights of the meeting included:

Four new teams elected: Bengal Tigers, Contenders, Goodmayes, Vauxhall Cavaliers

New rain rule: the emphasis is that some sort game is usually playable when wet. Teams must come to the park to inspect the conditions, except by mutual agreement beforehand. Where there is disagreement -- one team wants to play, the other doesn't -- both must come to the park. If the team not wanting to play still doesn't want to play, then the game will not go ahead -- but only if that team has five players present at the pitch.

New start rules - formalising the principle that in the early and late parts of the season you need to play shortened overs to be sure of getting a result:

a) In April, the first two weeks of May, and August:
Games are to start no later than 6:15 pm.
Any team not ready to commence by 6.15 pm forfeits the toss.
After 6.15 p.m. the overs must be reduced by one over for every five minutes.
For example:
Games starting after 6.15 but before 6.20 – 15 overs
Games starting after 6.20 but before 6.25 – 14 overs
Games starting after 6.25 but before 6.30 – 13 overs
Games starting after 6.30 but before 6.35 – 12 overs
Games starting after 6.35 but before 6.40 – 11 overs
Games starting after 6.40 – 10 overs
Teams not ready to start by 6.45 will forfeit the game and be charged the full cost of hiring the pitch.
b) In June and July:
Games must start no later than 6:30pm.
Any team not ready to commence by 6:30 pm forfeits the toss.
Teams not ready to start by 7 pm will forfeit the game and be charged the full cost of hiring the pitch.

Scores/Results - this season these must be submitted via a special page on the website: http://www.vpccl.co.uk/scores.html (please give a go with some dummy scores to see if it make sense).

Teamsheets: Teams must exchange a list of the full names of their eight players at the beginning of each game, to aid scoring and the compilation of league batting and bowling averages.

Substitutes / late players
If teams start a game with a side which includes one or more substitutes, this must be declared in advance (for example, if a player is late arriving). Substitutes cannot bat, bowl or keep wicket.

Rizwan Siddiqui of Sky was elected Chairman, following Mick Reid's decision to stand down
Mark Laurie of Victoria Park Juniors was elected to the committee.

Fixtures for the first phase of the 2008 VPCCL season are scheduled to be issued in the next few days.
